Commercial Driveways

Concrete for trucks, forklifts and steady traffic.

A commercial driveway works harder than a house driveway and usually can’t just be closed for a week. We plan the job around the vehicles that use it and how your business keeps running.

What’s involved

  1. Understand the traffic

What uses it, how heavy, and how often? That drives the design, so it’s where we start.

  2. Plan the staging

Where we can, we break the work into stages so that access stays open. We’ll talk through what’s realistic for your site.

  3. Prepare the base

Old surfaces come out and the base is prepared to suit the loads in the design.

  4. Steel, pour and joints

Reinforcement goes in to the design, then we pour and finish, with joints set out to suit the traffic.

  5. Back into service

We’ll tell you when each section is ready for vehicles. Heavy traffic generally waits longer than cars.

What affects your job

No two sites are the same. These are what we look at when we quote.

Site access
We need to get trucks in while yours keep moving. Early conversations about access and traffic management save trouble later.
Soil
Heavy, repeated loads will find any weakness in the ground below, so the base needs proper attention.
Slope
Water has to go somewhere. Falls and drainage need planning around the building, the road and the neighbours.
Size
Large areas are broken into sections, which affects joint layout and how long the job takes.
Finish
Grip matters where trucks turn and where forklifts and people cross paths. Tell us how each area gets used.

Questions about commercial driveways

Can you work around our business hours?

Tell us your operating hours and we’ll talk through what’s possible when we quote. Staging the work is often an option.

Do I need engineering for a commercial driveway?

Often, especially for heavy vehicles. Your builder, engineer or certifier can confirm. If it’s already designed, send the drawings through.

Can you do the crossover at the road as well?

Tell us what’s needed. Crossovers usually have council requirements, so include any conditions you’ve received with your enquiry.
